Isabel Melgarejo
Have you ever felt like you're juggling so many responsibilities when it comes to taking care of your parents, and it's all getting a bit overwhelming?
I've been there too.
I started taking care of my mom when I was just 20 years old after my dad passed away. At the time, I had little knowledge and few resources. I saw so many caregivers burn out, and I knew I didn't want that for myself or my mom. I wanted us to have a fulfilling and healthy life, and to make that happen, we needed a plan.
Now, I want to share our journey with you so that you can learn how to prioritize what truly matters and stop worrying about everything else. In this discussion, we'll take you from feeling lost and not knowing where to begin to having a solid plan in place. You'll gain the confidence to put yourself first as a caregiver and acquire the tools to handle those tough conversations that are necessary.
This way, you'll know the best path forward for your loved ones and yourself.
About Isabel
Hi, I'm Isabel Melgarejo, and I work as a Senior Care Project Manager. About 18 years ago, I started my journey as a caregiver, and that experience made me realize how isolating it can be and how essential it is to prioritize your own well-being. Even though I had seen many caregivers before, it wasn't until I became one that I truly understood the pressures they face. Caregivers often feel like they have to be perfect, never take breaks, and avoid having difficult conversations about death or mental health. That's why I talk to people who are already caregivers or will soon become caregivers.
My aim is to encourage both current and future caregivers to embrace these difficult conversations, establish healthy boundaries, and create a plan for themselves and their loved ones. This way, they can continue to enjoy their lives while providing care.
When I'm not assisting caregivers, you'll find me exploring new experiences and traveling around the world. I'm excited about the opportunity to connect and be a part of your upcoming event, where together, we can work towards changing the way society perceives the role of caregivers.

Balancing Love and Care
Being a caregiver to a loved one is overwhelming because it is hard to find balance between your caregiving duties and living the life you love and cherish. Fortunately, there are strategies you can use to avoid burnout.
Discover how lessons from project management can help you in your daily life, from planning activities, evaluating "risks" all the way to effective communications, handling conflict and most importantly prioritizing you, because without you nothing else matters.
What do you want to do when you grow older?
When was the last time someone asked you what you want to do when you get older? It probably happened when you were a teenager. But there are two main issues with this question. First, we often don't give ourselves the freedom to just be ourselves. Second, we tend to forget that we have around 60 more years of life ahead. So, it's important to start a new journey by asking yourself who you want to become, what things will help you become that person, and who you want to share this part of your life with.
